Resumen | The general goal of this project is to explore and exploit the advantages that GNSS Polarimetric Radio Occultations (PRO) can offer in order to advance in the understanding of heavy precipitation events and improving its prediction, both in a weather and a climatic context. With this general objective in mind, what we expect to achieve with this project can be summarized in three items: The first one is to keep the data flow and quality of the novel GNSS PRO observations from the PAZ satellite, and to be the principal provider of these new kind of observations. Being the first and only source of this new measurements, it is important to ensure the good quality of the data to be attractive to the scientific community. The second one is to explore the usefulness of this observations as weather/climate model diagnosis, and potentially demonstrate the ability of GNSS-PRO to improve the parametric choices often performed within these models. And the third one is to assess the potential impact of GNSS-PRO if assimilated operationally by Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) agencies. |
