Resumen

The EUMETSAT Satellite Application Facilities (SAFs) are an integral part of the distributed EUMETSAT Application Ground Segment. SAFs take the form of a distributed network of thematic application facilities responsible for necessary research, development, and operational activities not carried out by the EUMETSAT central facility. SAFs deliverables can be a specific piece of software to be made available to users for use in their own environment, or data and products made available in near real-time or offline.
The Radio Occultation Meteorology SAF (ROM SAF) covers the thematic application of GNSS radio occultations (RO), measurements obtained aboard the constellaiton of EUMETSAT MetOp satellites (EUMETSAT Polar System, EPS). The 3rd Continuous Development and Operations Phase of the ROM SAF (CDOP3) generates level 2 products, re-analysis and Climate Data Records based on EPS and other RO missions, and it gets ready for new products to be generated aboard the EPS Second Generation (EPS-SG), the new EUMETSAT constellation of LEOs in polar orbits. These include ionospheric and space weather RO products.

Actividades del proyecto

Our group contributes to the ROM SAF by maintaining and updating the web site, the processing chain and data archive. The group is also responsible of developing the new algorithms for ionospheric retrievals, in preparation for EPS-SG.
