Resumen | Asesoramiento y validación de mejoras de productos altimétricos con datos in situ (mareógrafos, gliders, barco, HF radar)...https://marine.copernicus.eu/about/producers/sl-tac |
Actividades del proyecto | Task 1: Development of new validation diagnostics This task consists in refining a/o developing new diagnostics aiming to qualify the quality of the SL-TAC products. Diagnostic based on comparison between altimeter products and in situ measurement are privileged: · Development of the methodology and metrics for comparison between altimeter products and HF radar measurements. · Refinement of comparison with TG measurement initiated in the 2016-2021 phase. The different methodologies developed and validated will be described in specific ATBD (Algorithm Theoretical Basis Document) aiming to allow the Contractor to implement these diagnostics in the SL-TAC operational validation procedure. Task 2: Validation of the operational a/o R&D altimeter products This task consists in contributing to the scientific validation/qualification of different altimeter products. The products considered can consist in products produced in operational mode by the SL-TAC (NRT or MY series), or in R&D for a future integration in the SL-TAC production (e.g. L3 5Hz, L4 MIOST). Specific validation of the future Sentinel-6A measurements could also be included. Comparison with in situ data will be privileged (TG, HF-radar, drifters, etc. ), using methodologies developed in Task 1. This task should contribute to the in situ black listing activity required by the PQWG (Product Quality Working Group). The validation should include intercomparison of the performance of different product lines (e.g. Global vs Regional product; NRT vs MY product; C3S vs CMEMS products). The results obtained will be compiled in different CMEMS deliverables (e.g. QUID/SQO; AAR) and specific scientific papers (e.g. specific paper leaded by the Subcontractor; contribution to DUACS DT-2021 paper leaded by the Contractor; ). Task 3: Contribution to cross-cutting activities This task consists in contributing to the different cross-cutting activities: · PWQG activities in link with the work done in task 2 (i.e. black listing) · OSR (Ocean State Report)/OMI (Ocean Monitoring Indicator) activities : a new OMI dedicated to the mesoscale signal will be developed and proposed in OSR for end 2022 before being integrated in the SL-TAC catalogue in 2024. On other OMI or complementary analysis of the previous OMI may be proposed in OSR for 2023 or 2024 (e.g. analysis of the relationship between observed mesoscale processes and climatic indices such us the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO), East Atlantic (EA) pattern, the Scandinavian pattern or the Mediterranean Oscillation (MO)). The different new OMI computation methodologies developed and validated will be described in specific ATBD document aiming to allow CLS to implement the operational production of the OMI. Task 4: reporting This task consists in contributing to · The different reporting required by CMEMS. Inputs for the quarterly and annual/scientific reporting are expected. · Different meeting for coordination/reporting between the Parties: different slides/report presenting the results obtained are expected for support to discussion |
